CCGT for SSE

SSE has announced plans for a new CCGT at the Ferrybridge site in Yorkshire.

The new plant will be known as Ferrybridge D and will have a generating capacity of up to 2,000MW. SSE owned and operated the coal-fired Ferrybridge C power station at the site until it closed in March 2016. It is currently finalising plans to commence demolition of the decommissioned C station with work expected to start during 2018.

SSE also has a 50% share in the Ferrybridge Multifuel 1 and 2 projects, located on land adjacent to the C station site.
