CCS: New interest

Parliament has been told that the UK government will publish a so-called deployment pathway for carbon capture, utilisation and storage within the next year and set up a task force within the next month that will look at the economics.

This will focus on cutting costs and exploring ways in which risks can be shared between the private and public sector as was done for offshore wind generation.

Those initiatives were promised by energy minister Claire Perry during a debate on the issues surrounding CCUS held at Westminster Hall in October.
