Centrica starts up new gas engines, but wrestles with delays over battery storage

Centrica has started to realise its £180 million investment in new flexible power assets, with the startup of identical 49.8MW gas engine arrays in Brigg and Peterborough. The two sites were live on 2 October and called into action two days later.
News was not so good from the third new asset, a 49MW battery array at Roosecote (the fourth asset is an update at the existing King’s Lynn power plant).
