Decc confirms RO closure for field-based PV arrays

The Renewables Obligation will close to solar PV arrays larger than 5MW on 1 April 2015, the DEpartment of Energy and Climate Change (Decc) has confirmed. It said arrays rated at 5MW or below would continue to have access to the RO until 2017 but said it would keep the situation under review.
Decc said that in the absence of intervention, "6.6–10GW of solar PV could deploy under the RO by the end of 2016/17 and cost an estimated £400 million per annum more than our EMR Delivery Plan projections." It said that would exceed the Levy Control Framework cap in 2016/17 by £40 million.
