ElecLink wins EU funding

ElecLink has won a grant of €1.7 million from the EU’s Connecting Europe Facility intended to help move forward projects of common interest in energy infrastructure. The grant will cover half the cost of project studies.
ElecLink is a joint venture company of Groupe Eurotunnel and STAR Capital Partners. It aims to build a 1000MW merchant interconnector  between France and GB via the Channel Tunnel.
The grant is one of 15 projects announced in early May, the first of 34 projects that will share €647 million in European funding. A second call for proposals closed on 29 April.
