National Infrastucture Planning has awarded a development consent order for ESB's Knottingley. The 1500MW CCGT is sited near Wakefield.
The approval was granted, although the project is partly sited on Green Belt land, because NIP accepted there was an "urgent need for energy infrastructure". BDB's Angus Walker commented that this was the first time such an argument had been accepted.
