Interconnectors: Report highlights market risk of new links

More interconnection with Europe will push up energy costs and carbon emissions, without ensuring security of supply, says a new report by independent energy market analytics firm Aurora Energy Research.

Aurora Energy Research looked into the impact of new electricity interconnection with neighbouring markets including France, Norway and Belgium.
The report said the three main risks of inter--connection are:

•    Increased costs for consumers due to interconnector subsidies and charge exemptions financed through taxes and electricity bills;
