Interconnectors under question: do savings from pooling generation across borders outweigh risk of pushing out domestic power?

The UK should add two further interconnectors to its plans to bring capacity to 17.4GW, according to National Grid. Under current plans, the UK will add 11.9GW of interconnection to the existing 4GW: 1GW from Belgium, 1.4GW from Denmark, 4.8GW from France, 1.4GW from Germany 0.5GW from Ireland and 2.8GW from Norway.
