National Grid applies for two new interconnector licences

National Grid Viking Link Ltd has applied for an interconnector licence for Viking Link, an interconnector planned between Bicker Fen in Lincolnshire and Revsing in Denmark.
The 700-1400MW interconnector, which would require a subsea cable 650km long, is being developed with Danish grid owner and operator Energinet.
National Grid IFA 2 Ltd has applied for a second licence for IFA 2 between Chilling in Kent and Tourbe, France. The GB end of this 2GW interconnector would be routed via the Sellindge site where the existing interconnector with France (IFA 1) is connected.
