SSE has held talks with Wicklow County Council to discuss its plan for a second phase at Arklow Bank, Ireland’s only operational offshore wind farm. The 25MW scheme is generating and has a consented area that could provide 520MW. The generator has indicated it could invest €1-2 billion.

Northern Ireland secretary Karen Bradley has confirmed that the UK government will table legislation to let civil servants determine key projects including infrastructure schemes such as the north-south interconnector and Evermore Energy’s proposals for a 480MW CCGT in Belfast harbour.
