Power plant is 50th nationally significant project

The planning regime for so-called Nationally -Significant Infrastructure Projects (NSIPs) reached a milestone in February with development consent for a power plant in King’s Lynn granted by energy secretary Amber Rudd.

The Palm Paper 162MW combined cycle gas turbine (CCGT) is the 50th scheme to be determined under the planning regime established by the Planning Act 2008 (as amended). It follows a similar industrial generation scheme consented in December for Tata Steel’s Port Talbot facility in south Wales. That was a 150MW plant.
