Wales wants local control to decarbonise

Renewable generation in Wales delivered enough energy to cover 48% of Wales’ electricity consumption in 2017, says the Welsh government in a major policy document on decarbonisation. Energy demand is falling, it said, but it expects power demand to increase in the 2020s and 2030s as electric vehicles become increasingly common and heat is electrified. It wants to reduce power sector emissions will by 37% (from 1990s levels) by 2030.
