‘Think locally’ on decarbonising heat

We must take decisions on decarbonising heat in this parliament, devolving responsibility to local authorities so solutions are “tailored to local circumstances”, Keith MacLean, co-chair of the UK Energy Research Partnership, told the Heat Conference. He warned that “if we don’t think seriously about repurposing the gas network, we could be missing an opportunity” and asked, “are we jumping to the right conclusions in electricity storage? Should we be looking at heat storage or hydrogen?”.
