Fred Olsen Renewables aims to extend its Cristal Rig complex of windfarm projects near Dunbar. Six more turbines are on the cards, which would bring the total to 91 with a capacity of 214MW.

 

Vattenfall and the BMW Group have signed a contract for the delivery of up to 1,000 lithium-ion batteries this year, each of which can store 33kWh. The largest installation – pending a final investment decision – will be at Vattenfall’s Pen y Cymoedd windfarm (230MW) in South Wales. This 22MW battery will supply National Grid’s enhanced frequency response service.
