Centrica slashes large generation fleet

Centrica is to sell the Langage and South Humber Bank to EP UK Investments for £318 million. The sale, which is subject to EU merger clearance, cuts Centrica’s large generation fleet by 2.3GW and is expected to be completed during the second half of 2017. EPUK’s parent company EPH owns coal-fired power stations at Eggborough and  Lynemouth. It is proposing to develop a 2.5GW gas-fired power station at the Eggborough site, while the Lynemouth plant is being converted into a biomass-fuelled plant.
