The Coalition has confirmed moves to give the Welsh administration greater planning powers in line with the recommendations of the Silk Commission as well as a bigger role in respect of Contracts for Difference.
In the case of CfDs the proposed change would mean the Welsh government would be placed on a similar footing to the Northern Ireland Executive (NIE) which already has some CfD policy clout. The Department of Energy and Climate Change has opened a “call for evidence” over implementation of the CfD framework in Northern Ireland.
