Ian Smyth has taken on a tenth of UK Power Networks’ business: its deregulated services business. He says distribution network operators have to get ready not just for a decentralised future but one in which diverse actors have to work together

UK Power Networks Services is the largest unregulated business in a regulated utility in the UK. It represents about 8% of UKPN’s turnover and about 10% of the company’s contribution.
