The “gap” in waste-management options in the UK is likely to prompt further investment in energy-from-waste (EfW) plants, according to a sector update from rating agency Moody’s.
Nicolo Castagna said that recycling has “flatlined” at 43-44% in the UK for the past five years, and the expectation is that that will not improve. The UK still sends 40% of residual waste to landfill.
