Market offenders to face criminal charges

The government has tabled regulations that will create new criminal offences for anyone taking part in energy market manipulation or insider trading in energy markets. The regulations have been laid before parliament and are expected to become law in April.
The Department of Energy and Climate Change (Decc) said no examples of either offence had been put forward in responses to a consultation on the subject.
