Network charging regime faces major change with reviews set to launch

A suite of reviews could mean fundamental reassessment of the charging structure for electricity networks at both distribution and transmission levels.

Charging in the distribution networks has been brought sharply into focus after the Department of Energy and Climate Change (Decc) promised to reassess ‘embedded benefits’ in its consultation on changes to the capacity market. The assessment – which Decc said would be taken forward by regulator Ofgem – has been prompted by the benefits available to ‘car park’ power plants.
