Janet Wood spoke to Mary Teuton about operating an independent CHP plant in the UK’s changing power market

The Immingham plant was built in 2003 to provide steam and power for the Humber refinery; it now also provides steam to the Lindsey refinery. Since Vitol bought the plant in 2013, it has still had those contracts, but it is now run as a commercial power station, rather than just to provide steam for the refineries, says Mary Teuton, head of policy and regulatory strategy at VPI.
