Ofgem has invited expressions of interest for a ‘regulatory sandbox’ that will let innovators trial business propositions without all of the usual regulatory requirements.

Pamela Taylor, who heads the regulator’s Innovation Link, said: “We have an open mind on the exact form of support offered by the regulatory sandbox. Hence we are calling for innovators to come forward with information about the regulatory barriers they face in order for us to assess whether there is support that we can offer.”
