Energy regulator Ofgem has written to the chief executives of energy companies to tell them to improve the way they handle customer complaints or face regulatory action.
Publishing the results of a survey among customers of the big six and four smaller companies - First Utility, Ovo, Utility Warehouse and Co-operative Energy - Dermot Nolan, Ofgem chief executive said: “These satisfaction scores are frankly awful. Almost all energy suppliers need to improve their complaints handling as a matter of urgency.
