Policymakers should stop focusing on investment v blackouts, and move their discussion on to the consumer benefits of demand response, says Colin Calder, chief executive of PassivSystems. The company is to set up an advocacy group, Consumers In Control, to speed up changes in the market that will allow consumers using smart appliances to participate in demand side response.
