Charges for power generation projects designated as nationally important infrastructure projects (NSIPs) such as power plants and transmission connection schemes have gone up by effectively 50%.
The new rates, the first increase for applications for development consent orders (DCOs) since the regime began in 2010, came into force in March. The increase will allow for full cost recovery by the Planning Inspectorate (which handles DCO applications) and the appointment of panels of two inspectors.
