Onshore wind on remote islands will be able to compete against “Pot 2” technologies for a contract for difference, BEIS has proposed. That will pit it against offshore wind, biomass with CHP, wave, tidal stream, advanced conversion technologies, anaerobic digestion and geothermal projects. The allocation framework would be based on load factors of the best-performing wind farms to cut potential CfD overspend.
