Replacing Euratom

The nuclear industry has been in the spotlight since the vote to leave the EU because the UK has to replace nuclear safeguards currently provided under the Euratom treaty. Without a replacement, the UK would be unable to move nuclear material – an issue that would affect not only industries such as oil and gas, which use radioactive sources for various tests, and nuclear medicine, but also nuclear fuel for the UK’s nuclear energy and fuel cycle businesses.
