Scottish referendum raises questions on energy
Any observers who thought the Scottish referendum’s clear “No” vote put to bed questions over energy in Scotland and the UK was quickly disabused by Scottish Renewables. The lobby group published a six-point energy shopping list just five days after the referendum (see box, below). Just how important was the referendum for the industry? An Energy Institute debate in the week following the vote also made it clear that the referendum had raised issues that could shift the industry’s emphasis and at least would raise uncertainty.
