Smart meters: Decc adamant on 2020 deadline

Can government and the energy industry deliver the smart meter rollout, as planned, by 2020?
Speaking at Marketforce’s Smart Metering Update in June Teresa Camey, head of smart meter policy at the Department of Energy and Climate Change (Decc) was optimistic that the new Conservative government was still behind  the policy and would not countenance delays. She pointed out that the Conservative manifesto commitment had been to “ensure homes and businesses have a smart meter by 2020, delivered as cost-effectively as possible”.
