Spring price increases start at big six suppliers as shift to small suppliers gains pace to small suppliers gains pace

EDF Energy, British Gas and Scottish Power have announced plans to raise prices for domestic customers. The news is likely to increase the flow of customers from major energy suppliers to mid-size and small companies.

The news comes as two other domestic suppliers, TotoEnergy and Flow Energy, have restructured or left the market. Toto Energy sold its 16,000 pre-payment meter customers to prepayment specialist Utilita Energy in March. Utilita has 625,000 customers. Flowgroup is selling its energy supply business, Flow Energy, to Co-operative Energy for £9.25 million.
