Transitional capacity market auction clears at £45/kW – ten companies win contracts

About 312MW of demand response won one-year contracts for delivery in 2017/18 in late March’s capacity market transitional auction. The clearing price was £54.00/kW a year, clearing in round six. The clearing price in the capacity market ‘early auction’ for the same delivery year is £6.95/kW.

There were ten winning companies, calling on 32 capacity market units (CMUs), including two companies associated with ‘big six’ suppliers and two industrial users – BOC and Tata Steel – participating in their own right. The successful bidders were:
