Compared to the previous year, electricity consumption by E.On customers in England, Scotland and Wales fell by 6%, from 226TWh to 213 TWh, while gas consumption (excluding power stations) fell by 18%, from 420TWh to 346TWh, the company reported in figures for the nine months to 30 September. That was due to energy efficiency measures and “more cost-conscious” buying, as well higher temperatures in 2014, the company said. It also noted a fall in customer numbers.
