Welsh government proposes new planning powers

published, includes proposals which would mean that all power generation schemes between 25MW and 50MW would be determined by Welsh ministers rather than local planning authorities (ie councils) as so-called Developments of National Significance (DNS).
The administration has made it clear that the current planning system is not supporting the delivery of renewable energy projects. It  cited a Welsh Assembly report last year which said wind farm schemes were taking on average 122 weeks to be determined.
