In a key consultation on future contract Ofgem has sought views on how it should identify “high-value, separable assets” to be constricted in the transmission network that can be opened for competitive tendering.
Fundamentally, Ofgem says the assets to be opened would include a greenfield overhead line, cable, or substation; or a complete replacement of an existing overhead line, cable, or substation, and the project would have a value of £100 million or above. “at least initially” to provide confidence that tendering would create savings.
