Will small peaking plant owners challenge Ofgem’s Triad decision?

Small generators that operate peaking plant are considering whether to launch a legal challenge to Ofgem’s decision to reduce the financial benefits that accrue to generators that are not connected to the transmission network. The regulator confirmed in June that it planned to make the change, although it allowed a three-year phase-in period. It will start to take effect in the upcoming charging year. Ofgem dismissed industry complaints that system updates would be required, saying the industry was expected to make tariff changes with 60 days notice.
