Communities Secretary Eric Pickles has given the green light for a 41MW solar farm at a former airfield outside Swindon, a joint venture between the council and the Science Museum Group which owns the site. The secretary of state called in the project because of concern over the scheme’s impact in a location in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty  and near a scheduled ancient monument.
