Siemens and J–Power Systems, a subsidiary of Japan’s Sumitomo Electric Industries, have been awarded contracts together valued at about €500 million to provide major components for National Grid’s Nemo interconnector with Belgium.
Siemens will build converter stations in Kent and Zeebrugge using its HVDC Plus technology, with a 5 year service and maintenance agreement. J-Power systems will design, manufacture and install the 140km HVDC XLPE cable system – the first time it will be used operationally at 400kV
