Drax Power says it will end its investment in the White Rose carbon capture and storage (CCS) project at the end of the front-end engineering design (FEED) phase in six to eight months.
The company said although it would continue to make the proposed site at Drax available, it would withdraw as a partner in developer Capture Power. It said the decision was based on the “drastically different financial and regulatory environment”.
It said instead, it would work with government to explore the potential for converting a fourth generating unit to run on biomass.
