Environment minister Rory Stewart has challenged the waste industry and waste authorities to improve efficiency and save money by settling on a small number of waste strategies. The aim is to improve recycling levels and reduce the waste sent to landfill, but it could also mean reopening long-term contracts for energy from waste plants.
