Two items dropped into New Power’s inbox on the same day: the Energy and Utilities Alliance announced that between 2009 and 2016, 12.6 million homes in the UK had a new gas boiler fitted, but only 113,299 air source heat pumps were installed, “even with a large subsidy paid for the latter”. Chief executive Mike Foster said: “It is high time the government acknowledge this and accepted that the all-electric heat scenario adopted by the previous administration is dead.”
