The UK has one of the most secure electricity supplies in the world. Customer interruptions – especially for business customers – are extremely infrequent. Although peak winter margins have been eroded, there have been no capacity problems over the past two winters. We have not even called on National Grid’s supplemental balancing reserve. The margin will get tighter but the capacity market has brought on new plant and will bring more.
