The UK energy sector could be saving up to £4 billion a year by strategically sharing data with other industry players, according to law firm Foot Anstey. It carried out modelling work with energy system developers QBots that suggests £70,000 is being lost for every MW of peak capacity.
The loss is caused by inefficiencies going unchecked because different players – energy asset owners, manufacturers and system operators – are not sharing information.
