Following on from Mark Howitt’s article last month about security of supply, National Grid clarifies the concerns he raised.
While the article makes some good points around the uncertainty in the future generation mix out to 2050, unfortunately it misinterpreted data attained from the annual Future Energy Scenarios (FES) publication. Mark makes the point that there is a risk of security of supply; this is not the case, FES does not reveal looming failures over security of supply, but instead demonstrates a range of paths to a secure energy future.
