Kiwi Power has started operating a smart battery system “behind the meter” at Parc Stormy, the Cenin Renewables site near Bridgend, Wales.
The 4MW battery will provide frequency support services to National Grid.
Cenin’s 20-acre site includes a low-carbon cement production facility, a solar farm, an anaerobic digestion plant and a wind turbine, and it delivers power to local homes. The site’s AD plant is owned and operated by Agrivert. As well as generating 3.2MW of power it provides surplus heat to the neighbouring cement plant for use in the minerals-drying process.
