Ofgem’s fixation with switching as the only measure of success in a retail energy market that is working for customers has come home to roost.
I think switching numbers have hit a record high recently, but that’s not because customers have taken an interest and found a better deal. It’s because they did switch, and the deal they chose was unsustainable and so was the company – so they have been switched by the regulator to a “supplier of last resort”.
