The increasing controversy over proposals for a massive increase in wind generation in the Irish Republic is posing a big headache for the state’s independent planning agency An Bord Pleanala, the Irish equivalent of the Planning Inspectorate in England and Wales.
The agency, which handles planning appeals and holds public inquiries into major energy infrastructure schemes, is facing a review of its competence and the way it works.
